Portable Solar-powered Pumps developed by Khethworks Private Limited, targets small-plot farmers in eastern India where kerosene or diesel pumps are prevalent. These 1/3 hp submersible pumps weigh about 4kg and are powered by 320 watts of solar, giving farmers 20,000 liters irrigation per day. Innovation in the pump design reduces power requirement which in turn reduces the size of solar panels and makes it portable.
